James Graham Brown built the Brown Hotel at the “magic corner” of 4th & Broadway. This 16 story hotel opened in 1923 and quickly became a central part of the growing downtown Louisville economy and social life, with traffic congestion to endure. The Georgian – Revival hotel lobby is an elegant meeting place for guests. The hotel is a member of the Historic Hotels of America, and became the home of the “Hot Brown” sandwich in 1926.
